Meet Theresa

Since graduating from Marquette Law School (Class of 2010), Theresa Villar has amassed a broad legal background. She has represented domestic abuse survivors, advocated for the best interests of children as a guardian ad litem, and prosecuted child welfare, termination of parental rights, delinquency, and criminal cases.

Theresa has spent the last six years working as an assistant district attorney in Racine and currently serves on the Racine Unified School Board after being elected to a three year term in April 2022. She and her husband have lived in Racine County for 11 years and have two children, both of whom attend RUSD schools. Theresa believes that acting with integrity is one of the most important aspects of serving as a judge and is committed to being fair and unbiased while upholding the rule of law. She has made it her practice to treat individuals with dignity and respect while holding them accountable for their actions and will continue to do so from the bench.

Theresa Villar for Judge

A Dedication to Service

I grew up in a family who believed in service to the community. My parents, who met while on a mission to Guatemala, chose to serve by adopting children who may otherwise not have a home. As a result, I grew up as the eldest of 13 children!

During college, I continued this family legacy of service by joining the Sisters of Notre Dame and becoming a teacher. But I wasn’t alone. Three of my siblings chose the path of military service to our nation.

Becoming a judge builds on this dedication to service that my family cultivated in me. I want to do everything in my power as judge, within the law, to treat every individual with fairness and impartiality. Everyone deserves to have their voice heard and be treated equally before the law.
